Glass and Furniture
Leo Kaplan Modern represents a selection of master glass and furniture sculptors who claim distinction in the field with artwork that ranges from pure abstraction to the figurative. These artists are born of the Studio Movement which emerged in the mid 1940’s under the notion that traditional applied arts could be transformed through the integration of concepts and methodologies found in Fine Art. Over the last sixty years, these sculptors have been pioneering an artistic renaissance in glass and furniture which may be experienced by visiting our gallery. The artists we exhibit are present in the collections of such major museums at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Art Institute of Chicago, Smithsonian Institution, Museé des Arts Decoratifs Paris, National Museum of Art Kyoto, and the Victoria and Albert Museum London.
